Out of all the suggested fixes "user" fixes, there is only one that has the most positive results, for at least the 600 and 700 series cards, and that is to clean your driver and install an old pre DX12 geforce driver. This workaround also has the least possibility of messing up your OS (users have tried changing all kinds of OS related settings and parameters) Here is what seems to work for the large part of the community that has 600 and 700 Series nVidia Cards. 1) removed current nVidia Driver in windows safe mode with DDU Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 17.0.3.0 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...c-in-safe-mode 2) Installed the 337.88 driver. GeForce 337.88 WHQL Driver Download * The technical community in the Battlefield 1 forum thinks that the reason this driver works is that it does not contain any of the DX12 stuff. Which may or may not tie into the DX11 inside this driver. (AMD nVidia are you listening? here is a starting point)* 3) Renamed nvapi64.dll to nvapi64old.dll Found here: c:\Windows\System32 *** If you don't do this, BF1 will tell you the drivers are out of date and will not launch.* 4) Disabled driver updates in Windows Updates. Driver Updates in Windows Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums NOTE: disabling the automatic driver update in Windows 10 has not seemed to work. I have tried all the methods I could find on the internet and even one method from Microsoft (links not included in this post). Windows will still eventually just update your nVidia driver for you. This is the only way I can play the entire game as intended (this "may" work for other games I hear that are encountering the same DX Error. I have to repeat this process everytime before I play the game (due to windows automatically updating the drivers --- Thanks Microsoft ) *** Also, note that some AMD users are also encountering this same DX error and crash and they have aknowledged in their driver notes that it is a known issue. > All the "user" based dianostics and possible non-driver fixes (most do not work as the DX error / crash appears at random). Please see the enormous and detailed thread on the Battlefield 1 forums link below: DirectX Function Error (Nvidia) - Still no fix. Meh.. ( 18.11.16 - 15:29 CEST ) — Battlefield Forums >> Thank you
