They promise more regular Blog posts in the future to keep the community informed, also mentioning the increase in size of the development team, being strengthened from sources outside Bohemian Interactive's core team.
After E3 they will be opeing up testing, first the "Community Alpha" in June than a much larger Public Beta later in the year. They have however said that the release of the game will be pushed back for bug fixes and polish.
DirectX 10/11 has been implemented along with PhysX, They also mention:
"The UI is undergoing a redesign, with the focus upon improved usability. Indeed, ease of use, and particularly accessibility, has been an entire goal in itself."This is quite important as the massivly complicated UI is one of the major factors to resistance for new players to pick up the game, currently it is truly the most complex UI of any game I have ever played. Every button on the keyboard some with multi-level menus underneath!
Anyone that knows ArmA is aware that each new game is built on the old, in fact they introduce features of the new game into the old ones for testing. In the last few months several patches for ArmA:2 have improved multiplayer experience tremendously. British Armed Forces and Privet Military Company DLC are talked about along with Take on Helicopters as test beds for future tech that will be rolled up to improve ArmA:3
Special care is being taken for moders to be able to import there work into the new game from the old. So Aircraft, tanks, weapons and such built for ArmA:2 with a small amount of work will be able to be imported into the new game. This way the modding community can hit the ground running with the new games release.
