Battlefield 3 will be getting an official multiplayer beta before the release of the game. So far access to the beta is limited only to owners of
Medal of Honor Limited Edition, which was released in late 2010. It is widely expected that the
Battlefield 3 beta will be expanded to include more players as it progresses, and finally, an open beta is not out of the question. The last time developer DICE held a beta was with Bad Company 2, where beta keys were given out to thousands of players.
What to expect of the beta
The Battlefield 3 beta will test out multiplayer gameplay and rely on feedback from players on such things as weapons (if some weapons are overpowered/underpowered for example), vehicle feedback, map specific feedback etc. The beta is expected to be multiplayer-only.
Battlefield 3 beta maps
It’s expected that the beta will include at least one map, and in order to test as many aspects of Battlefield 3 as possible, we expect it to be a large map with both infantry, air and vehicle combat, so DICE can get a feedback from a wide variety of gameplay elements.
When the Battlefield 3 beta takes place
The Battlefield 3 beta will take place in September 2011, and will be available on all platforms — PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Please keep in mind that the Battlefield 3 beta has yet to be officially announced. As soon as we know more details, we’ll let you know.
